BMI is the US performing rights organisation: It collects license fees on behalf of its songwriters, composers and music publishers and distributes them as royalties to those members whose works have been performed. Great people, invaluable organisation. They have a very informative website which you can visit to learn all about their history and see for yourself how they’ve become such a respected organisation.
